テングワール・クウェンヤ語 英 Tengwar: Quenya mode
クウェンヤ語は，トールキンの『ホビット』，『指輪物語』などの「中つ国」を舞台とした作品の中で，エルフ族（エルダール）が話す言語の一つである。その文法と音韻論はフィンランド語に似た音韻また文法（名詞の格，動詞活用）をもつ。
エルダール語には 2 種類あり，上のエフル語すなわちクウェンヤと，灰色エルフのことばシンダールである。上のエルフ語は，大海のかなたのエルダマールの古語であり，文字に書いて記録された最初のことばである。それはもはや日常語ではなかったが，いってみれば「エルフのラテン語」とでもいったらよいものになっていた。第一紀の末に故国を去って，「中つ国」に戻ってきた上のエルフたちによって，儀式の場合や，あるいは伝承，歌といった高尚な事柄を表現する場合に，それまでどおり使われてきたのである。
トールキンはまた、作品を書くためにいくつかの異なる文字体系を作成した。テングワール（フェアノール文字）は，彼の作品で最も頻繁に現れ，クウェンヤ語やシンダール語，暗黒語などの彼が発明した言語を書くのに用いられた。それはまた、英語や他の言語を書くために使用することが可能であった。
